About this event

During stressful and uncertain times, mindfulness and calming techniques are critical for children to be able to self-regulate. Explore the many benefits of yoga and mindfulness techniques, and how to utilize these techniques for interventions with children both virtually and in-person. In this workshop, we will unpack the Social-Emotional Learning toolbox and discuss the development of coping skills. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of the physiological ways that the brain and body interact.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • List practical, concrete tools in the Social-Emotional Learning toolbox that develop emotional literacy and increase capacity for self-regulation.
  • Identify child-friendly terms and phrases to explain the brain's physiology as it relates to managing emotion.
  • Describe in child-friendly terms the relationship between mind and body, self-regulation, impulse control, and positive social skills.
  • Demonstrate games and yoga poses that increase capacity for executive functioning.

Each workshop participant will receive The Anchor Bundle which includes the Mindful Yoga Breaks® Card Deck + Superhero Breath Card Deck + Dice Game (pdf) + Superhero Lesson Plans + Anchor Breath Poster + MYB Full Manual.

About the Trainer:

Lani Rosen-Gallagher (M.Ed., RYT 200, RCYT) recognized that children need balance and focus in their lives, and she began incorporating mindfulness and yoga into her classroom while teaching first grade nearly 20 years ago. Seeing the benefits of these techniques in practice, she has taught thousands from coast to coast how to bring mindfulness into the classroom. Collaborating with Jennifer Byer (RYT 200, RCYT), the pair created Mindful Yoga Breaks® as a way to help children self-regulate, and create calm, and focus. They have combined their efforts to bring this new mindful yoga program to schools, teachers, clinicians, parents, and students worldwide.
